Meet Our Fall 2016 Rookies!
Congratulations, Ladies! We're thrilled to have you join our family this season!
Dance Team has had a busy start to the year! We held auditions in April and September and added nine talented dancers to our team! Since then, we have been working hard on learning game day routines, training for nationals and supporting Northeastern Athletics on campus. We've participated in events like Midnight Madness, Fall Fest, and Homecoming Weekend and attended Soccer, Hockey and Volleyball games so far.
With the basketball season just days away, we've perfected many of the dances we learned at Pro Action in Vegas this summer. A few of our favorites are to Milkshake and Shut Up and Dance, so now we're just counting down the days till we can perform them!
We have also been hard at work fundraising for Nationals this spring. Our team has done a brunch at Conor Larkin's, a Yankee Candle Fundraiser, a workshop with Pro NBA Dancers and a Catalyst fundraiser. We have many more events and campaigns coming up, and appreciate all the support we've received!
Check back for more updates from our season! #seeyouonthecourt
This Wednesday, 12/3, the Northeastern Dance Team will be hosting a fundraiser at the Boloco on campus! Click here for the event page.
Bring the attached flyer to Boloco NEU the night of December 3rd, and 18% of your purchase will be donated to the NEU Dance Team. All funds will help us reach our goal of competing in the NDA Championships in Daytona, Florida this spring!
We appreciate your help, and can't wait to see you there!
NUDT Coach Kay and Captain Brittany spent the morning giving back with Community Servings, picking up and delivering pies for families in need! It's extremely important to Coach Kay that NUDT gives back as part of our commitment to the community. Thanks ladies!
After a fierce battle with Navy and Manhattan University, the NU Men's basketball team has one the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun! Thanks for the great game!
Northeastern rode a hot-shooting first half to a 20-point halftime lead and never looked back in a 65-51 victory over Manhattan (1-3) in the championship game of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tipoff at Mohegan Sun Arena. NU captured its first in-season tournament title since 2009 and improved to 4-0 for just the fourth time since the NCAA instituted Division I classification in 1973.
In a fantastic season opener, Northeastern Men's basketball won against BU and NUDT debuted three new dances.
David Walker poured in a career-high 23 points and Northeastern overcame an 11-point second-half deficit to defeat rival Boston University, 71-65, on Sunday afternoon at TD Garden in Boston. The win—part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Triple Header—was the Huskies’ fourth over their city rival in the last five meetings.
We had a blast and can't wait for the rest of the season!
Interested in who has choreographed for NUDT so far this season?
First up is Brandy, who came to camp last weekend to teach us 3 amazing routines! We'd like to thank Brandy for her great choreo, and tell you a little about her:
Brandy has built up her dance resume as a dancer on the USC Trojan Dance Force - a nationally ranked collegiate dance team, as a dance instructor for US Spiritleaders, and a member of South Coast Freestyle, an All Star dance team out of Orange County, CA. And last... Brandy has danced professionally as a Celtics Dancer here in Boston!
Thanks again Brandy, and we can't wait to work with you again!
And here are some other pictures from this past weekend!

Wondering who will be running tryouts this Sunday? Meet our new coach, Kayla!
Kayla Harkness began her dance training in Houston, Texas. She has been dancing for twenty-five years, professionally for over ten.
Kayla started her professional career with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Over four years with the company, she performed many musical theater productions around the world such as A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, and many more. Kayla also had a healthy career in Atlanta, Georgia; working in TV/Film, music videos, commercials, and at Atlanta Ballet. After five years as an instructor at the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education Kayla moved to Boston in the fall of 2011. Here she began work as a Boston Celtics Dancer. While with the Boston Celtics, Kayla was selected three consecutive years to go on tour internationally with the NBA, to work as a dancer at their NBA3X tours and one year for Pre-Season in Istanbul, Turkey.
Kayla recently retired, as Captain, from the Boston Celtics Dancers. Since then she has become a Husky! Kayla is excited to be Northeastern University's new Head Coach of the Dance Team. Kayla will continue to focus on the journey her passion for dance and love for the community has brought her way. She is looking forward to tryouts and a wonderful season at Northeastern University!
We are so excited for what Coach Kay will be bringing to our season!
